Division, Learning to Divide and Division Facts

Division can be a real stumbling block for young students. For some reason, young learners come to school understanding how 'to share' yet when we call it 'division', they somehow lose the skill. Division is sharing, sharing equally into groups and the remainders become the left overs.

Here are a few resources to help young learners with division.

Division is not sharing! When kids grow-up, they will have to unlearn this concep of division=sharing when they will have to divide by fractions.

If you can look at the work of Leroy from the university of Montreal, he created a program used in Canada called “Défi Mathématique”. It’s a proven extrodinary method for kids to understand and like Maths. They never learn something that they will have to unlearn later. My kids when through it and I’m sold!
