Mistakes + Analyze Why = Greater Understanding

I was sharing the fact with a friend a while back that mistakes often lead to powerful learning experiences, she retorted, "Uh, huh, I was once married!" Not quite what I anticipated but I proceeded to try to draw the analogy that once you analyze where you go wrong, you don't make that mistake again, instead, you learn from it! How often, do you see students look at their marked paper specifically for the mark? Step 1 for sure, however, to learn from mistakes, each error should be analyzed in order to prevent the same errors from happening again. It's a well known strategy to improve academic performance.
