This summer I took on a new hobby-like goal that I truly never thought I'd have any interest in. I never understood the fascination others had with golf but decided I needed to get outdoors more and decided that golf would be my new direction! After all, if so many others find golf enjoyable, I may as well give it a concerted effort to see what the magnetic attraction was. And, with retirement just few years away, now seemed like a good time to start.
Well, I've taken a few lessons focusing on the fundamentals, practiced at the range and played on 2 courses. I don't think I've ever been quite this frustrated in my entire life. Where's the consistency? For me, it seems that cursing and the golf course go hand in hand. However, I've decided that despite my inconsistent swing and rather wreckless game, I will persevere just like I'm always advising students to do in math. Keep the chin up and the attitude positive. There are more correlations in math and golf than one would think.
