Evaluating expressions is an early algebraic concept that requires replacing the variable (usually a letter) in the expression with a value and then simplifying the results. Sometimes, the value of the variable will be known. Sounds easy, however, students often make errors by using the wrong value for the variable or they will often not follow the order of operations. To improve accuracy and understanding, a little practice with a variety of exercises will benefit most students. See also: Order of Operations Video and Combining Like Terms Worksheets
