The order of operations is something in math that is often committed to memory. To some, the order makes sense and to others, it's just a matter of remembering the order. There are many mnenomics devices that will help and my advice, is to use what works for you. Some people use PEDMAS, other use BEDMAS (Parenthesis/Brackets, Exponents, Division, Multiplication, Addition, Subtraction).
