Golf season is upon us and soon the studies of math will be on break for the summer holidays. And why you ask, would I even try to compare math and golf? To be quite honest with you, just for the heck of it!
Math and golf:
- If you have a negative attitude, you'll most likely fail at both.
- Practice improves both.
- Mastering golf exceptionally well and mastering all there is to know about math is highly unlikely over the course of a lifetime!
- Both require a progression of skill.
- Both have a mental component even though many golfers will tell you that golf is physical.

I love it!
I am getting degree now but I have tutored math from 3rd thru college. The first thing I tell my students is that E V E R Y T H I N G in the universe is math: thinking, cause and response, sports, dance, logic art, etc., etc. Of course, I show examples that would be familiar to them and it canges their entire outlook. Your golf comment was good but it is a question of hand-eye co-ordination combined with developed math perception so if the kids play sports in the summer, they are still practicing math in action. That’s ccol, too!
