Introduction to the Complex Plane

If you're reading about the Complex Plane, it's because you are probably used to graphing points on the regular Cartesian plane. The Complex numbers can also be graphed in a similar way. Instead of the x axis, one uses the “Real axis” and instead of the y axis one has h the “Imaginary axis”.

See the example, 3+ 2i would be marked on the graph as the point 3 units to the right of the origin and 2 units up. Image below.
